Email/Letter to Parents/Guardians re: Easter Break, Key Dates etc

Dear Parent / Guardian,

Trust this correspondence finds you well as we move towards the commencement of the Easter break.

Key dates:

Friday 11^th April @12.20pm Easter Holidays

Monday 28^th April Commencement of final school term

Monday 5^th May Bank holiday

School Books Grant 2025 / 2026:

You will be aware that the Government are continuing the free schoolbooks scheme to all students in Junior Cycle from the commencement of the new school year 2025 / 2026. The scheme is further extended to include Transition Year students and students commencing the Leaving Certificate established programme 2025 / 2026. The school will not run the LCA programme in 5^th year 2025 / 2026; it will re commence in the following school year.

The school will not charge parents in the above specific years for schoolbooks or core classroom resources, however, we will be requesting a refundable deposit of €50 per student per year / cycle to encourage proper care of books. A separate letter will issue to all parents regarding this grant scheme.

Importantly, the school will own all schoolbooks and resources which will be provided on loan to students.

JC Examination 2024:

The school will hold an awards ceremony for all students completing the JC examination in June 2024. It is really important to recognise the achievement of our students on completion of their first formal state examination. The ceremony will take place on Thursday 10^th April at 12.20pm. I would encourage all our students who sat their JC examination last year to attend school on that date.

Vaccinations:

Wednesday 2^nd April 2025 for all 1^st year students.

VS Ware:

We are looking to expand further the functionality of VS Ware. This will involve centralising payments and communication through this platform. We will keep you informed.

Curriculum 2025 / 2026:

We are working on the curriculum model where relevant for students entering 2^nd year and those students commencing 5^th year and the established LC programme. We will communicate with you when this process is complete.

LC Orals:

LC Orals commence from Saturday 12^th April. We are awaiting final confirmation from the SEC (State examination Commission) examiners and, once received, we can issue the timetable to students.
